Cortina d’Ampezzo

The most beautiful of them all

Breathtakingly beautiful, Cortina d’Ampezzo is the undisputed Queen of the Dolomites.

Thanks to her incredible crown of mountains, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and her location in a wide sun-kissed basin, Cortina is the only Italian locality included in the Best of the Alps, the association of the 12 most renowned places in the Alps. Her beauty became increasingly famous world-wide towards the end of the nineteenth century, when the first English and German visitors were beginning to sing her praises in numerous publications

Host to the Winter Olympic Games in 1956, today Cortina is able to make use of the infrastructures that are their legacy both in summer and in winter, including hotels and refuges, trails for walking, mountain biking or snow-shoeing, and rock faces for climbing. The ski slopes are part of the Dolomiti Superski, the biggest ski area in the world.
